"I would give 6 stars if I can. Everyone who is employed there, from the person who enters the phone to the DMP counselor professional, patient, knowledgeable and sympathetic. I highly recommend the DMP counselors who are amazingly helpful.  She spoke calmly and slowly in a way you can understand and not with numbers, that is rare in any financial organizations. There was "no rush" to resolve the issues. She made sure any questions I had was answered to my satisfaction. If I have any inquiries or questions, I will be sure to ask for her again. "

"If you're nervous, scared, embarrassed, and have no idea how to move forward (like I was), please call them. I spoke with Richard, who not only was incredibly informed about the process and answered all my questions in a clear, understandable way, he was also wonderfully empathetic. He listened to my stories, and shared a few encouraging ones of his own. I now have a plan to get out of debt in 5 years max, when I thought I'd be drowning in it for the next 30 years of my life. Thank you, Richard, for all of your help and kindness, and for the philosophy book recommendation! "

Whitney, December 2025

" I had an outstanding experience with American Consumer Credit Counseling. The counselors were incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and patient. They took the time to explain everything clearly and made sure I fully understood my options. Their guidance gave me peace of mind and helped me feel confident about my financial decisions. I truly appreciate their dedication to helping people with integrity and respect. I highly recommend ACCC to anyone looking for trustworthy and compassionate financial counseling and debt management options. "

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Debt Management Program (DMP)?

A Debt Management Program is a structured repayment plan offered by nonprofit credit counseling agencies like ACCC. If you’re eligible, we work with your creditors to reduce interest rates and fees, then combine your payments into one affordable monthly payment.

You still repay 100% of what you owe — just with less interest and a clearer path to becoming debt-free.

Does ACCC do debt settlement?

No. ACCC does not negotiate balances down or ask you to stop paying creditors. We focus on interest-rate reductions and structured repayment, which helps protect your credit.

Is there a cost?

Your consultation is free. If you enroll in a plan, fees are modest, transparent, and nonprofit-regulated and often offset by the interest savings.

What types of debt can you help with?

We help with credit cards, personal loans. medical bills and collection related unsecured debt.

Will this hurt my credit?

Many clients see long-term credit improvement as balances decrease and payments become consistent.
